What is a cadre?
A cadre is a group of skilled professionals combined for a common purpose or specific task.
How can I become a cadre member?
Approximately 30 Cadre members are selected each fall from applications submitted by teachers. The first cadre was formed for school year 2005-2006. Applications are now being accepted for the second cadre in school year 2006-2007. The final cadre will be selected in the fall of 2007. Applicants must be employed in one of the 15 local school districts participating in the Consortium for Innovative Education (CIE).
How many hours do I have to commit as a cadre member?
The Project TAHOE Plus grant specifies approximately eight major activities each year with a total of 154 hours cadre participation. Most of the hours involve active participation in a scheduled activity. However, a significant number of hours are completed individually and in small group settings.
If I have a conflict with a Project TAHOE Plus activity how can I make up those hours?
Scheduling conflicts are inevitable with busy professionals. When a conflict prohibits a cadre member from full participation, that member must first notify the Project Director or Resource Specialist in advance. In conjunction with the cadre member’s principal or district supervisor of instruction, a plan is presented to the Project Director for completing the missed number of hours offered for the activity.
How is Project TAHOE Plus different from the TAHOE and TAHOE II grants?
In Project TAHOE and TAHOE II, any teacher from a participating district could participate in individual activities provided by the grant. Teachers had no requirement to participate in or attend any activity, but selected those activities useful or of interest to them. For some, but not all activities, participants were paid a stipend.
Project TAHOE Plus cadre members are selected from applications. Cadre members must make a year-long commitment to the project and are expected to participate in all activities. All cadre members receive a $1,000.00 stipend at the conclusion of the year for satisfactory participation.
