Information for Cadre Applicants
- Who is eligible? American history teachers in the 15 TAHOE Plus districts
- What is the grant? One million dollars federal grant to be used for teachers of American history
- How long does the grant last? 3 years
- How is it set up? Each year a cadre or group is selected from teacher applications
- Themes: year 1- Kentucky History, year 2- Immigration, year 3 Historical Documents
- Focus: Improving student achievement and knowledge of American history
- Activities: Literary Circles, Technology Training, Thematic Unit Development, FACING HISTORY and OURSELVES training ( fall workshop and Summer Institute), materials purchased for teachers, updates on assessment of core content, assessing student achievement in social studies, trip to New York at the end of the cadre year- summer 2007
- Time involved: Teachers commit to 150 hours doing the above activities. The dates would be from October 2006- November 2007
- Stipend per teacher: $1000
