Homonyms, or words that sound the same but have different meanings, can often be confusing when writing. With this site you can figure out the differences between some of those problem words like "effect" and "affect", "lie" and "lay", or "allusion" and "illusion". The site has a link to common errors in English at the bottom of the page that is also helpful. Students have several different general categories they can select to practice their spelling and letter identification. They simply clicking on "Start" and then click on a picture, for instance, "shirt" from the What We Wear category, and then use the spelling wheel to attempt a correct spelling of the word. Click on "submit" to check answers, and "Show Me the Word" or "Clear" for incorrect answers.
