Edington Receives Board of Regents Teaching Award
The College of Education is pleased to announce that Dr. Susan Edington has been named the COE recipient of the Board of Regents Teaching Excellence Award this year. The college would also like to congratulate Dr. Joe DeBella as being a finalist from the Department of Adolescent, Career and Special Education, and Dr. Mary Lou Yeatts for being selected as a finalist from the Department of Educational Studies, Leadership and Counseling. Nominees are submitted and selected based on their interest and enthusiasm for teaching, commitment and concern for students, adaptation of teaching methods, and academic advising.
Dr. Edington is an assistant professor in the Department of Early Childhood and Elementary Education teaching undergraduate and graduate classes at the MSU Madisonville Regional Campus. She has been with Murray State for four years and serves as the Madisonville Site Coordinator for the 2+2 Program. This program allows students to take classes at extended campus sites while earning a Bachelor’s Degree.
Dr. Edington has also worked with support programs for students and developed a workshop designed to prepare students for the Praxis II. She received the Outstanding Faculty Award for Region VII at the Continuing Higher Education Conference in 2004,
Woman of Achievement Award from the Madisonville Business and Professional Women’s Club in 2003, and the Community College Educator of the Year from the Hopkins County Chamber of Commerce in 1999.
