Center for Environmental Education Library

Our library is located at 321 Alexander Hall and operates from 8:00am to 4:30pm Monday through Friday.  All of the library materials are available to students, faculty, staff, and WKEEC members to assist them in incorporating environmental education in their curriculum. We have multiple types of resources for educational purposes.

Young Reader Materials

Our most popular section of the library is the Young Reader section.  Here, we have picture books, young reader novels, and big books, all dealing with environmental issues and nature.

Puppets

Along with Young Reader books, we have many animal puppets that correspond with our available materials.  These puppets are available for checkout.

Resource Materials

Our Resource Materials section includes encyclopedias, dictionaries, and almanacs.  Using these materials, you can find information about anything, from our fifty states to weather patterns.

Curriculum Materials

In the Curriculum Materials section of the library, we have lesson plans and educational activities dealing with ecology, water, weather, science, math, language arts, and more.  The Team Building portion of the Curriculum Materials section is very popular.  We have books on activities for children and adults alike.  These are valuable resources for teachers because of the abundance of information that can be incorporated into the classroom.

Field Guides and Magazines

We also have Field Guides that provide information on plants, reptiles, and astronomy, and we have a magazine section that includes National Geographic, Organic Style, Ranger Rick, and more.

Multi-Media

Because technology is an important part of today’s society, we have a Multi-Media section with DVDs, videos, and CDs dealing with topics such as natural disasters, ecosystems, and animals.

Hands-On Materials

Along with books and classroom materials, we have hands-on materials that can be checked out.  You can check out items such as hula hoops, Play-Doh, flashlights, flagging tape, and even a Build-a-Beaver suit!

Checkout Procedure

If you would like to check out items from our library, you can simply visit
room 321 in Alexander Hall and fill out a contact form, or you can download
the form on our website and bring it with you. Students have a checkout
period of two weeks, and faculty and staff have a checkout period of four
weeks.

If you need help finding materials, our computer system allows us to look up keywords, specific titles, or authors for you.  We also have a friendly staff that can help you find what you need.
