EDU 667 – Environmental Education in Austria, Germany, and Switzerland

This course is offered in the summer in conjunction with the Kentucky Institute for International Studies (KIIS) and meets abroad for approximately two weeks.  During this visit to Bregenz, Austria, you will witness many of the reasons why Austrians happen to be some of the forerunners in the world of sustainability. Go see for yourself the sustainable mind set that is embedded into this group of people.  You will also have the opportunity to study concepts of eco-schools, waste reduction, conservation of resources, and alternative energies while comparing these to those of the United States.  You will see first-hand the Austrian sustainability model, which includes the four pillars of social issues, the economy, the environment, and global issues, and be able to determine how all of these sustainability concepts fit into the scheme of the sustainability model.
